The Bloodhound and The Clean Tent.

World record 1000mph car’s Nammo rocket engine to be rebuilt in a CT1700.

Cheshire based Clean Environments has become an official product sponsor of the Bloodhound SSC project which will attempt to break the world land speed record by exceeding 1000mph.

Clean Environments parent company; Moorfield Nanotechnology have supplied a Clean Tent to protect the car’s hybrid rocket pump system from external contaminants, whilst it is stripped down and deep cleaned ready for the next round of testing which is taking place in Norway.

Toni Horsfield, Head of Clean Environment division at Moorfield said: “We are proud to be playing a role in the exciting project. Even the slightest contamination can adversely affect the performance and safety of the rocket-powered engine. The Bloodhound SSC rocket team needed a fast solution to their temporary cleanroom requirement which is exactly what the Clean Tent is designed for. We were able to deliver, install and certify the space to ISO 6 within a day”

Bloodhound SSC is a unique, high-technology project to design and build a jet and rocket powered car that will break the 1,000mph barrier and set a new world land speed record. Designed and constructed in the UK, Bloodhound SSC includes components and sponsorship from international companies and will eventually make its record attempt in South Africa.

Initial reports from the recent test fires of the Rocket at Aerohub, Newquay Cornwall Airport revealed that the new 550 hp Jaguar V8 engine is proving to be the ideal fuel pump motor, due to its reliability and simplicity.

The whole Moorfield Nanotechnology team are now looking forward to reports on how the rocket performs in Norway at the Nammo Test Centre following its Clean Tent deep clean.
